Olanu — Privacy Policy

Olanu (“the App”, “we”) is a personal-tracking and educational tool for training, nutrition, and peptide research. It does not provide medical advice. This policy explains what data the App handles and why.

1. Data stored on your device

Everything you log — protocols, doses, workouts, meals, water, check-ins, measurements, progress photos, and settings — is stored locally on your device by default. You can export it (CSV/JSON) or erase all of it at any time from Account → Privacy & data.

2. Cloud backup

When you create an account, an encrypted-in-transit snapshot of your Olanu data (protocols, workouts, meals, check-ins, settings) is backed up automatically to our provider (Supabase) so you can restore it on another device — you can turn auto-backup off anytime in Account & cloud sync. Data imported from Apple Health is excluded from cloud backup and stays on your device. Backups are retained until you delete them: you can delete your account and all its cloud data in-app at any time.

3. Camera & photos

With your permission, the App uses the camera to snap a meal, scan a food barcode, or take progress photos. Photos you choose may be processed by the AI features described below; we do not otherwise store your photos beyond your own on-device records.

4. Apple Health (optional)

If you connect Apple Health, Olanu reads only the categories you approve — sleep, heart-rate variability (HRV), and body weight — and writes only what you enable: workouts, cardio, body weight, and (if you opt in) nutrition. Imported Health data stays on your device and is never uploaded to Olanu’s cloud backup. It powers on-device recovery, readiness, and trend insights; only if you enable “Use summaries in AI” may compact summaries (like a 7-day sleep average — never raw samples) be included when the AI generates a response for you. Every flow has its own toggle in the app, this data is never sold or used for advertising, and you can revoke access in the Health app at any time.

5. AI features — what is sent and why

When you use an AI feature (coach chat, photo or voice food logging, scan import, macro or program suggestions), the specific text or image you submit is sent through Olanu’s secure server to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a response. This content is sent together with a compact snapshot of your relevant Olanu data (profile basics like your first name, age and goals, plus summarized stats — and, only if you enable it, Apple Health summaries). It is processed to serve your request and is not used to train models. We send only what is needed for the feature — never your entire history — and no email or advertising identifier travels with it. You never need, and cannot use, your own API key; all AI runs on our server under fair-use daily limits. AI output may be inaccurate — see our Terms of Use. If you never use these features, no such data leaves your device.

6. Third-party services & processors

• Apple — App Store distribution, subscription billing (we never receive your payment details), and Apple Health under your permissions.
• Supabase — account sign-in and optional cloud backup.
• Anthropic — processes the content you submit to AI features to generate responses; API inputs are not used to train models.
• Open Food Facts — receives scanned barcodes to return product nutrition.

Each processes only what its feature requires. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with third parties except as needed to provide these features or as required by law.

If the app hits an error, an anonymous crash report (the technical error text, app version, and device model — never your name, account, entries, or any health data) is sent to our own server so we can fix bugs.

If you join the launch newsletter on olanuapp.com, we store the email address you submit and use it only to send Olanu launch and feature news. Every email includes an unsubscribe option, and you can request removal any time at support@olanuapp.com. The newsletter list is separate from your app account and is never linked to your health or tracking data.

7. What we do not do

• No advertising and no ad networks.
• No analytics SDKs and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
• No selling or renting of your data.
• No advertising profiles built from your health and fitness data.

8. Subscriptions

Olanu Pro is an auto-renewing subscription processed by Apple through your App Store account. We do not receive or store your payment details; Apple handles billing. Manage or cancel in the App Store settings on your device.

9. Data retention & deletion

Your data lives on your device for as long as you keep the App installed. You can erase all of it from within the App, and delete your account (with its cloud backup) in-app — both return the App to its first-run state. Content you submit to the AI provider is retained per that provider’s terms, outside our control.

10. Children

Olanu is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Your choices & rights

You can access and export your data, correct it by editing entries, and delete it entirely. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; contact us to exercise them.

12. Security

On-device data is protected by iOS app sandboxing and device encryption. Network requests are made over HTTPS.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
